قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ 20❚
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 21❚
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 22❚
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 23❚
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ 24❚
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ 25❚
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 26❚
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ 27❚
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ 28❚
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ 29❚
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ 30❚
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ 31❚
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ 32❚
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ 33❚
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ 34❚
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ 35❚
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ 36❚
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ 37❚
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ 38❚
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ 39❚
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
Moses replied, ‘I was misguided when I did it

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
and I fled from you in fear; later my Lord gave me wisdom and made me one of His messengers.

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
And is this- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel- the favour with which you reproach me?’

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
Pharaoh asked, ‘What is this “Lord of the Worlds”?’

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Moses replied, ‘He is the Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them. If you would only have faith!’

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
Pharaoh said to those present, ‘Do you hear what he says?’

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Moses said, ‘He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.’

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Pharaoh said, ‘This messenger who has been sent to you is truly possessed.’

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Moses continued, ‘Lord of the East and West and everything between them. If you would only use your reason!’

قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ
But Pharaoh said [to him], ‘If you take any god other than me, I will throw you into prison,’

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
and Moses asked, ‘Even if I show you something convincing?’

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
‘Show it then,’ said Pharaoh, ‘if you are telling the truth.’

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
So Moses threw down his staff and- lo and behold!- it became a snake for everyone to see.

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
Then he drew out his hand and- lo and behold!- it was white for the onlookers to see.

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
Pharaoh said to the counsellors around him, ‘This man is a learned sorcerer!

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
He means to use his sorcery to drive you out of your land! What do you suggest?’

قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
They answered, ‘Delay him and his brother for a while, and send messengers to all the cities

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
to bring every accomplished sorcerer to you.’

فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
The sorcerers were [to be] assembled at the appointed time on a certain day

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
and the people were asked, "Are you all coming?
