Ash-Shu'ara (26)

إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 137❚
وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ 138❚
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 139❚
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 140❚
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 141❚
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 142❚
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ 143❚
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ 144❚
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 145❚
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَـٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ 146❚
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ 147❚
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ 148❚
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ 149❚
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ 150❚
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ 151❚
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ 152❚
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ 153❚
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ 154❚
قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ 155❚
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 156❚
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ 157❚
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 158❚
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 159❚
إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
for we only do what our forefathers used to do:
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 137

Hizb 8/1
وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
we shall not be punished.’
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 138

Hizb 8/1
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
They denounced him as a liar, and so We destroyed them. There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe:

Hizb 8/1
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
The people of Thamud, too, called the messengers liars.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Their brother Salih said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God?

- Verse 142

Hizb 8/1
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
I am a faithful messenger to you:

- Verse 143

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
be mindful of God and obey me.
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 144

Hizb 8/1
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
I ask no reward from you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds.
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 145

Hizb 8/1
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَـٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ
[Do you think] you will be left secure for ever in what you have here-

وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
fields, palm trees laden with fruit-
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 148

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ
carving your fine houses from the mountains?
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 149

Hizb 8/1
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Be mindful of God and obey me:

- Verse 150

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
do not obey those who are given to excess
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 151

Hizb 8/1
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
and who spread corruption in the land instead of doing what is right.’

- Verse 152

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
They said, ‘You are bewitched!
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 153

مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
You are nothing but a man like us. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth.’
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 154

Hizb 8/1
قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
He said, ‘Here is a camel. She should have her turn to drink and so should you, each on a specified day,
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 155

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
so do not harm her, or the punishment of a terrible day will befall you.’
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 156

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ
But they hamstrung her. In the morning they had cause to regret it:

- Verse 157

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
the punishment fell upon them. There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe:

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
