Ash-Shu'ara (26)

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 184❚
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ 185❚
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ 186❚
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ 187❚
قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ 188❚
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 189❚
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 190❚
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 191❚
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ 192❚
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ 193❚
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ 194❚
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ 195❚
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 196❚
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 197❚
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ 198❚
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ 199❚
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 200❚
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ 201❚
فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ 202❚
فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ 203❚
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ 204❚
أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ 205❚
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ 206❚
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Be mindful of God who created you and former generations,’
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 184

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
but they replied, ‘You are bewitched!

- Verse 185

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
You are nothing but a man like us. In fact we think you are a liar.
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 186

Hizb 8/1
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Make bits of the heavens fall down on us, if you are telling the truth.’

قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
He said, ‘My Lord knows best what you do.’

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
They called him a liar, and so the torment of the Day of Shadow came upon them- it was the torment of a terrible day.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe:

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
Truly, this Quran has been sent down by the Lord of the Worlds:

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ
the Trustworthy Spirit brought it down
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 193

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ
to your heart [Prophet], so that you could bring warning
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 194

Hizb 8/1
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ
in a clear Arabic tongue.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
This was foretold in the scriptures of earlier religions.

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
Is it not proof enough for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel have recognized it?

- Verse 197

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ
If We had sent it down to someone who was not an Arab,
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 198

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ
and he had recited it to them, they still would not have believed in it.

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
So We make it pass straight through the hearts of the guilty:

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
they will not believe in it until they see the grievous torment,
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 201

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
which will suddenly hit them when they are not expecting it,
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 202

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ
and then they will say, ‘Can we have more time?’
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 203

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
How can they ask that Our punishment be brought to them sooner?
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 204

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ
Think, if we let them enjoy this life for some years
Ash-Shu'ara
- Verse 205

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
and then the promised torment came upon them,
