Al-Qalam (68)

نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ 1❚
مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ 2❚
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ 3❚
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ 4❚
فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ 5❚
بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ 6❚
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ 7❚
فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 8❚
وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ 9❚
وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ 10❚
هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ 11❚
مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ 12❚
عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ 13❚
أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ 14❚
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 15❚
نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
Nun By the pen! By all they write!
Al-Qalam
- Verse 1

Hizb 8/1
مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
Your Lord’s grace does not make you [Prophet] a madman:
Al-Qalam
- Verse 2
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
you will have a never-ending reward––

- Verse 3

Hizb 8/1
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
truly you have a strong character––
Al-Qalam
- Verse 4

Hizb 8/1
فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
and soon you will see, as will they,

- Verse 5

Hizb 8/1
بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ
which of you is afflicted with madness.

- Verse 6

Hizb 8/1
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
Your Lord knows best who strays from His path and who is rightly guided.

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
So do not yield to those who deny the truth––

- Verse 8

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
they want you to compromise with them and then they will compromise with you––

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ
do not yield to any contemptible swearer,

هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ
to any backbiter, slander-monger,
Al-Qalam
- Verse 11
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
or hinderer of good, to anyone who is sinful, aggressive,
Al-Qalam
- Verse 12

Hizb 8/1
عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
coarse, and on top of all that, an imposter.

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
Just because he has wealth and sons,

- Verse 14

Hizb 8/1
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
when our revelations are recited to him, he says, ‘These are just ancient fables.’
