Al-Qalam (68)

سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ 16❚
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ 17❚
وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ 18❚
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ 19❚
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ 20❚
فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ 21❚
أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ 22❚
فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ 23❚
أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ 24❚
وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ 25❚
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ 26❚
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ 27❚
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ 28❚
قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ 29❚
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ 30❚
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ 31❚
عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ 32❚
كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ 33❚
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ 34❚
أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 35❚
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ 36❚
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ 37❚
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ 38❚
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ 39❚
سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ 40❚
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ 41❚
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ 42❚
سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ
We shall brand him on the snout!

Hizb 8/1
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
We have tried them as We tried the owners of a certain garden, who swore that they would harvest its fruits in the morning

Hizb 8/1
وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
and made no allowance [for the Will of God]:

Hizb 8/1
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
a disaster from your Lord struck the garden as they slept

- Verse 19

Hizb 8/1
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
and by morning it was stripped bare, a desolate land.

- Verse 20

Hizb 8/1
فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ
Still they called each other at daybreak,

- Verse 21

Hizb 8/1
أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ
‘Go early to your field if you wish to gather all its fruits,’

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ
and went off, whispering,

أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
‘Make sure no poor person enters the garden today!’––

- Verse 24

وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ
they left early, bent on their purpose-

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
but when they saw the garden, they said, ‘We must have lost our way!

- Verse 26

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
The wisest of them said, ‘Did I not say to you, “Will you not glorify God?”’-

قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
they said, ‘Glory be to God, Our Lord! Truly, we were doing wrong!’-

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ
and then they turned to each other in mutual reproach.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ
They said, ‘Alas for us! We have done terrible wrong,

- Verse 31

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ
but maybe our Lord will give us something better in its place: we truly turn to Him in hope.’

- Verse 32
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
Such is the punishment [in this life], but greater still is the punishment in the Hereafter, if only they knew.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
There will be Gardens of bliss for those who are mindful of God.

Hizb 8/1
أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Should We treat those who submit to Us as We treat those who do evil?

- Verse 35

Hizb 8/1
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
What is the matter with you? On what basis do you judge?
Al-Qalam
- Verse 36
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
Do you have a Scripture that tells you
Al-Qalam
- Verse 37
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
that you will be granted whatever you choose?

- Verse 38

Hizb 8/1
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
Have you received from Us solemn oaths, binding to the Day of Resurrection, that you will get whatever you yourselves decide?

- Verse 39

Hizb 8/1
سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
Ask them [Prophet] which of them will guarantee this.

- Verse 40

Hizb 8/1
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
Do they have ‘partners’ [besides God]? Let them produce their ‘partners’, if what they say is true.

- Verse 41

Hizb 8/1
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
On the Day when matters become dire, they will be invited to prostrate themselves but will be prevented from doing so,
