Al-Muddaththir (74)

إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ 18❚
فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ 19❚
ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ 20❚
ثُمَّ نَظَرَ 21❚
ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ 22❚
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ 23❚
فَقَالَ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ 24❚
إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ 25❚
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ 26❚
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ 27❚
لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ 28❚
لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ 29❚
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ 30❚
وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنًا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ 31❚
كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ 32❚
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ 33❚
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ 34❚
إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ 35❚
نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِ 36❚
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ 37❚
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ 38❚
إِلَّآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ 39❚
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ 40❚
عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 41❚
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ 42❚
قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ 43❚
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ 44❚
وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ 45❚
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ 46❚
حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ 47❚
إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ
He planned and plotted––
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 18
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ
ferociously he plotted!––
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 20
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ
and turned away and behaved arrogantly
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 23

Hizb 8/1
فَقَالَ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ
and said, ‘This is just old sorcery,
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 24
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ
just the talk of a mortal!’
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 25
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ
I will throw him into the scorching Fire.
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 26

Hizb 8/1
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ
What will explain to you what the scorching Fire is?
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 27

Hizb 8/1
لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ
It spares nothing and leaves nothing;
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 28
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ
it scorches the flesh of humans;

- Verse 29

عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ
there are nineteen in charge of it––

وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنًا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ
none other than angels appointed by Us to guard Hellfire- and We have made their number a test for the disbelievers. So those who have been given the Scripture will be certain and those who believe will have their faith increased: neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers will have any doubts, but the sick at heart and the disbelievers will say, ‘What could God mean by this description?’ God leaves whoever He will to stray and guides whoever He will- no one knows your Lord’s forces except Him- this [description] is a warning to mortals.
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 31

Hizb 8/1
إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ
It is one of the mightiest things,
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 35

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ
to those of you who choose to go ahead and those who lag behind.
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 37

كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ
Every soul is held in pledge for its deeds,
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 38

Hizb 8/1
إِلَّآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ
but the Companions of the Right will stay
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 39

Hizb 8/1
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ
‘What drove you to the Scorching Fire?’ [they will ask]
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 42
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
and they will answer, ‘We did not pray;
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 43

Hizb 8/1
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ
we did not feed the poor;
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 44
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ
we indulged with others [in mocking the believers];
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 45
Juz 30
Hizb 8/1
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
we denied the Day of Judgement
Al-Muddaththir
- Verse 46

حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ
until the Certain End came upon us.’
