Al-Ma'arij (70)

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ 1❚
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ 2❚
مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ 3❚
تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ 4❚
فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا 5❚
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا 6❚
وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا 7❚
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ 8❚
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ 9❚
وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا 10❚
سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
A man [mockingly] demanded the punishment.
Al-Ma'arij

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ
It will fall on the disbelievers––none can deflect it––

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
from God, the Lord of the Ways of Ascent,

- Verse 3

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
by which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him, on a Day whose length is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
So be patient, [Prophet], as befits you.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا
The disbelievers think it is distant,

- Verse 6

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
On a Day when the heavens will be like molten brass
Al-Ma'arij
- Verse 8

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
and the mountains like tufts of wool,

- Verse 9

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
when no friend will ask about his friend,
